This March and April we have planned the following activities:

Movie Night “Osama”   -  Monday, 8th March 5:30 p.m.

Inspired by a true story, Osama follows a 12-year-old Afghan girl and her mother, who both lose their jobs after the Taliban closes the hospital where they work and restricts women's travel rights. With her daughter's father dead, the mother disguises her as a boy so she can leave the house and find a way to make a living. Film in original version with French and German subtitles only.

Luncheon at “Au Premier”    -   Thursday, 18th March 12 noon

The “Au Premier” restaurant in the train station offers fine food and a lovely atmosphere.

Talk on Homeopathy  -  Wednesday, 24th March 7:30 p.m.

What exactly is homeopathy and what is it used for? Uta Knoth a certified homeopathic practitioner will answer these questions and give us much more information about homeopathy. Homeopathy is a revolutionary, natural medical science. It is gentle and an effective system of medicine. The remedies are prepared from natural substances to precise standards and work by stimulating the body's own healing power.

Movie Night   -    Monday, 5th April  5:30 p.m.

Please contact Britta for information on what movie we will be seeing and where and when we will meet.

Lunch at the Korea Town Restaurant   -   Friday, 16th April   12 noon

Here is our chance to sample some Korean food in a friendly environment.

Tour of Hug bakery in Malters   -   Wednesday, 28th April  2 p.m.

Join us for a tour of the HUG Bakery in Malters, where cookies, crackers and other snacks are baked daily. We will be given an English-language tour and at the end of the one-hour tour, we'll have the chance to sample the wares!

PAST EVENTS

The January MovieWhale Rider” set in New Zealand was incredibly moving and enjoyed by all who went to see it.

Twelve members gathered for the first luncheon of the year at the restaurant La Cantina. With two tables reserved, the members all had a good chance to talk to each other. We had a nice meal in a contemporary, newly opened and very popular restaurant. The food was simple and good, but the place is much nicer during the evening.

Eleven members turned up at Britta’s house for the club’s first Fun Flea. Many purses, belts, scarves, shoes, clothes and kitchen ustensils changed owners. Wine, coffee and cakes mixed with laughter made it a fun afternoon. Thank you Britta, we certainly plan to do this again!

We didn’t let the cold snowy weather dampen our spirits. Nineteen members and their guests thoroughly enjoyed our excursion to the Georgia O’Keeffe art exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zürich.  Our tour guide was exceptional and we all learned a great deal about O’Keeffe’s work and her extraordinary life.  She certainly overcame great odds (against women) to become one of the great figures of 20th century art.  After the tour, we had a delightful meal at the newly remodeled Kunsthaus Restaurant.  We all agreed this was an IWCL experience to remember.

Due to a lack of interest the Ceramic Painting event was cancelled, but will probably be offered at a future date.

The February movie was “Lost in Translation”. Sofia Coppola’s film about coping with life in a foreign country certainly struck a few chords with our members.
