May 23 and 24 A two-day trip and overnight stay in Lavey-les-Bains
spa combined with a visit to the Van Dongen exhibition at the Fondation Gianadda
Museum in Martigny (Valais). Those who want to skip the museum visit can come
directly later to the Lavey-les-Bains spa. Van Dongen (1877-1968) was a Dutch painter of the Fauve group of
painters in Paris where he spent most of his life. He was an impressionist
artist whose colours recall the flat surface technique of Gaugin and Vuillard.
Van Dongen became a very fashionable portrait painter in the period after the
First World War, but was in fact deeper and more interesting than is generally
realised. Program : Departure from Geneva on 23 mai around 11h (carpools
